IMPORTANT NOTICE - regarding Fee Schedule for Optometry Examinations.
- OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance) no longer covers all of Ontario residents for eye examinations.
- Patients 19 years of age and under are covered for the cost of an eye examination once a year by OHIP.
- Patients 65 years of age and over are covered for the cost of an eye examination once a year by OHIP.
- Patients between the ages of 19 and 65 years of age are not covered for the cost of an eye examination by OHIP.
- Patients between the ages of 19 and 65 that are diabetic or have a predetermined eye disease are covered for the cost of an eye examination once a year by OHIP.
- Patients between the ages of 19 and 65 that are under Ontario Works or O.D.S.P. are covered for the cost of an eye examination every two years by OHIP.
- Private insurance companies and government insurance usually covers a portion of an eye examination and glasses or contact lenses. OHIP does not cover the cost of glasses or contact lenses.
